The focus of today's Divi 5 upgrade is caching. When Divi is not managing cache, caching issues can be bothersome and difficult to resolve. Sometimes clearing the cache is all that is necessary. We can still attempt to make your life simpler, though, and today's update accomplishes exactly that. In other words, you will no longer see totally damaged styles when your cache plugin is out of sync with Divi. Additionally, when we know it is necessary—for example, when modifying Theme Builder templates that target a variety of sites that your caching plugin just does not account for—we have provided a few additional integrations for well-known caching plugins to automatically empty the cache for you.
The main problem is straightforward. A caching plugin provides your visitors with static HTML when it caches a site. Links to Divi-generated CSS files containing all of the styles you altered in the builder are included in that static HTML. The HTML still points to a file that is no longer there if Divi deletes its CSS files but you do not delete the HTML cache for your plugin. How do we stop this, then? Simple! Until your plugin clears its cache and a fresh, genuine visitor views the most recent version of your page, Divi retains those outdated CSS files so that the outdated HTML may still reference them. For whatever reason, you can use the Theme Options to remove those outdated CSS files.
In some circumstances, Divi will also erase the cache for your plugin. For instance, your plugin cache will not know what to clear on its own if you are changing a header layout on a theme builder template that impacts a number of random pages on your website. Additionally, when you modify a variable or preset, caching plugins most likely do not know how to clean their cache. Divi assumes control and clears the cache. Divi has always done that, so there is nothing new, but this version includes a lot of new caching plugin integrations that cover the most recent wave of well-liked plugins. These consist of:
It is crucial to remember that using one of these caching plugins is not required. Any caching plugin will function with Divi. Simply keep in mind that everytime you make a global modification in Divi, such modifying a preset or a design variable, you must clear the cache.
